“21 in 1”: 21 megapixels. 21 moments. 1 shot.
We challenged Schude to capture 21 moments in a single shot using the 21 MP camera on his Moto X while choreographing more than 60 people doing what they love. The result is what we’re calling “21 in 1.” Behind each of the 21 moments is a story, some of which have connective threads with others, told in video shorts. Taken with the Moto X Pure Edition, the image highlights the power of the top-rated camera and creatively demonstrates the phone’s ability to enable you to do more of what you love. Take a behind-the-scenes journey of the planning, preparation and final product of Schude’s “21 in 1”:
Look closely among the assembled Brooklynites and you’ll see the likes of competitive eater Joey Chestnut (known for gobbling down Coney Island’s famous Nathan’s hot dogs every Fourth of July), graffiti artist and designer Jeff Soto and actor Terence Michos -- better known as “Vermin” from the cult classic, 'The Warriors'. Even two of our own Moto camera engineers -- Peter Matsimanis and Chekit Mehta -- got into the action by getting up close and personal with a local snake handler.
See all the videos on Instagram @Moto21in1.
So now that you’ve seen what a pro can do with the Moto X Pure Edition camera, show us how Moto X helps you do more of what you love by using hashtags #XOMotoX and #21in1.

Jonathan Adler Designs a Collection for Moto X Pure Edition and Shares His Holiday Gifting Tips
The collection will be available for pre-order at Motorola.com/JonathanAdler beginning November 24, and will officially go on sale December 3 for $474.99 (32GB). To help round out the rest of your shopping list, we asked Jonathan to share his top holiday gifting tips for the style-obsessed friends and family in your life.
------------
Hey Moto fans, it’s Jonathan Adler here! I’m excited to be collaborating with Motorola. Like them, when I approach design, I encourage self-expression and ignoring the “rules” - and, I’m obsessed with my phone. So, why not embrace more choice when it comes to phone design? We all deserve phones as stylish as we are.
I’m sure many of you are thinking about your holiday gifting, so here are my tips for selecting the perfect gift for the design lover in your life.
- Make it Personal: Give a gift that appeals to everyone's favorite person: themselves. Even the least vain person in your orbit won't say no to a cozy baby Alpaca throw with their initials on it. Soft, squishy and luxurious -– what could be better?
- Think Outside the Gift Box: One of the best gifts I give myself every year is a trip to Capri each summer. If you're gifting a trip, try to find a little something for the recipient to open in advance – our Jet Set candles are available in squillions of scents and locales and provide an olfactory preview of your trip.
- Be Unexpected: I think good gifts are any combination of the following: super thoughtful, super premium or super unique. I love the idea of taking something utilitarian that you use every day and jazzing it up – just like I did with my new designs for Moto X Pure Edition. If it's going to be in your hand 24/7, might as well make it chic and unique.
- Bow & Go: I strive to make products with packaging that's as beautiful as what's inside. Just bow and go; when you're not spending an eternity wrapping it, you’ll have more time to devour the hors d'oeuvres at a holiday party.
- Give Good Game: I love to give games, and not just because I'm a super competitive person. If the conversation ever starts to lag at a holiday party you can just whip out a game and vanquish your boring seat mate at a round of backgammon.
Happy shopping!

Ashton Kutcher Explores How Far You’d Go for #PhoneLove
They say love makes you do crazy things -- particularly when it comes to your smartphone.
Think about all the instances when you’ve placed your phone’s needs before your own -- the times you’ve found yourself crawling on dirty floors looking for an outlet to charge from, jumping out of bed in the middle of the night because your phone rings or chimes, or sticking your hand in a toilet because it slipped out of your pocket at precisely the wrong time. We sleep with them, eat with them, even shower with them. And do we need to mention the heartbreak felt when they’re dead, lost or worse, shattered by an accidental drop?
#PhoneLove is the intense and many times irrational relationships people have with their smartphones.
This isn’t bad, it’s simply true. To prove it, Ashton Kutcher conducted a series of real-world social experiments to see what happens when people are forced to choose between themselves and their phones. The purpose of these experiments is simple: to prove that people care about their phones more than they realize, but those phones aren't always loving them back.
Check out people being put to the test to see just how long they can go without touching their phones in this first #PhoneLove experiment:
At Moto, we believe you deserve a better mobile relationship with your phone. One that is reciprocal and two way. Unobtrusive, yet intuitive. Supportive, but not co-dependent. Where all the care and devotion you show is returned.
We’ll continue to share Ashton’s #PhoneLove experiments in the coming weeks to test this theory further. In the meantime, we want to hear about your cases of #PhoneLove on social! For better or for worse.

Start Up with ‘Stitch’: The Making of Motorola’s New Bootanimation
At Motorola, we design our smartphones and smartwatches to not only look and work great, but also feel great to the touch. Whether it’s the choice of a real wood grain or genuine Horween leather backs available across our Moto X line, or the various sizes and watchbands designed to fit all types of wrists on our Moto 360s, we always strive to deliver a user experience that’s uniquely tangible.
So when it came time to develop a new startup animation -- the animated Motorola logo that appears on your display when you turn your phone on -- we approached renowned product designer Peter Crawley, best known for his “Stitched Illustrations,” in which he hand-pierces paper with a pin, and then stitches it with a needle and cotton thread, resulting in pieces of art that you can almost feel just by looking at them. This felt like a perfect match with our innovative design spirit at Motorola.
“I knew from the start that I wanted the finished piece to have a real tactile feel to it -- for the customer to be able to see the texture and natural qualities of the paper and thread,” Crawley explains. “We played a lot with the existing Motorola color palettes, but felt that the blues and yellow used would not only work best with the screens but also really highlight the textures of the natural materials. The paper stock is sourced from a traditional English paper mill and is usually used for watercolor paintings, but it had such a great texture that is acts as a rich canvas for my work, too.”
So how does a primarily visual artist make the jump into digital animation? Check out the video below to get a behind-the-scenes look at the making of our new “Stitch” boot-up.
“It was the first time I had worked on an animation of this type, but the animation team was very experienced in this space and did a fantastic job in pulling together the concept and making the final piece exactly what we envisaged,” adds Crawley. “Seeing my work come to life in this way is really rewarding, but knowing it will be in people's hands all over the world is absolutely amazing.”
Look for "Stitch" on your Motorola device soon. For details on when upgrades will be coming to you, please refer to our software upgrade page for the latest and specifics by country, or follow G+ posts of our release announcements.
Today, it's starting to roll out on the retail 2015 Moto X Style (3rd Gen) in both Brazil and India, and on the retail 2014 Moto X (2nd Gen) in Brazil retail.

Motorolans Give Back to Chicago
Motorolans are dedicated to solving problems that improve people’s lives, whether it’s through the mobile devices we create or through giving back to the communities where we live and work. In that spirit, today 300 Motorolans are giving back to the community through Motoserve, our annual day of service at Motorola Mobility’s global headquarters in Chicago.
The Motorola Mobility Foundation -- Motorola’s charitable and philanthropic arm -- has partnered with Chicago Cares for the second year in a row to try to make a difference in some of the city’s under-resourced neighborhoods through hands-on service. Motorolans are providing lunch to needy senior citizens, beautifying schools and community spaces with murals and fresh paint, and acknowledging the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans with transition and aid kits.
We’re proud that Motorolans are providing their time and talent in the community today. Some of the specific ways that our volunteer teams are making a difference are:
- Humboldt Park - Casa Central: Hosting a Kids Olympics, organizing a Casino Day and adding a fresh coat of paint to the Auditorium, a room that is in use nearly every day of the year.
- Back of the Yards - Hedges Elementary: Creating colorful mosaics, painting classrooms, and constructing bookcases in an effort to beautify the school for students and staff.
- Near West Side - Hope Institute: Giving the school a fresh look by painting the cafeteria and creating four colorful murals throughout the hallways.
- Bronzeville - Lincoln Perry Apartments: Spending quality time with senior residents while cooking and serving a meal, playing Bingo and making fleece blankets.
- Merchandise Mart - Motorola Mobility: Assembling 350 Welcome Home Kits for Veterans and Active Service Members to thank them for their service and help them set-up their new homes. Collecting, sorting and packaging close to 1500 hats and gloves that will keep Chicago's children, adults and seniors warm this winter.
Today’s activities are part of a year-round series of volunteer programs offered by the Motorola Mobility Foundation to Motorola’s employees. The Foundation’s mission is to catalyze the innovative use of technology to improve lives and communities. It does this by leveraging employee expertise and talent, providing funding, and partnering with nonprofits, learning institutions, startups, government, corporate and civic organizations.

Moto Shop: Chicagoans get an Experiential Retail Shop this Holiday Season
Smartphones and wearables are the most personal accessories we own, and we want to make the shopping experience for Moto devices equally personal.
That’s why we’re introducing Moto Shop: the first-ever Motorola experiential boutique in the heart of downtown Chicago -- our hometown. We’ll open on Saturday, November 7, just in time for your holiday shopping.
Looking at products online can be fun, but nothing compares to experiencing them in person, especially when it comes to your smartphone or smartwatch. But don’t expect phones on display outlining technical specs -- Moto Shop is a hands-on, interactive environment with dedicated areas that bring to life our marquee products and device features.
Here’s a peek at what you can expect when Moto Shop opens:
We’re transforming Moto Maker from an online design studio to a mini workshop where you can get hands-on with genuine leathers, real woods and a broad-ranging color palette to build a custom Moto X Pure Edition. The possibilities are (almost) endless.
The Moto 360 boutique offers personalized smartwatch shopping. Nearly all the Moto Maker customization options are on display, so you can try them on and build a watch that reflects your unique style.
Get photographed on our Moto Shoot set with the Moto X Pure Edition’s top-rated 21 megapixel camera. You’ll never want to use another camera again.
And finally, we couldn’t build Moto Shop without letting shoppers put the world’s first shatterproof phone to the test in the Drop Zone. See Moto ShatterShield in action as the Droid Turbo 2 plummets from your hands onto slabs of concrete, ceramic and tile and never worry about dropping your phone again.
Come meet us in person on opening day, November 7, or for our grand opening celebration on November 14. We’d love to help you cross a few items off of your holiday gift list. Moto Shop is located at 108 N. State St. (Suite 140 at Block 37) and will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Don’t Fear The Drop with Moto ShatterShield #ShatterProof
It’s happened to the best of us -- whether you’re juggling too much in your hands or you stand up forgetting it’s in your lap -- when your smartphone screen breaks, a little bit of your heart breaks too.
Today’s smartphones have a tendency to let us down because -- among other things -- they’re incredibly fragile. More than half (53%) of global smartphone owners have shattered their screens, and one-in-five (21%) global smartphone owners are currently living with a broken smartphone screen1.
A phone should be there for you through it all -- every photo, text, call OR fall. Which is why we’ve spent the last three years creating Moto ShatterShield™, the world’s first phone screen guaranteed not to crack or shatter2.
With our new Moto ShatterShield technology, you’ll never have to fear the dreaded drop or have to deal with the expensive hassle of having to replace a busted screen again, thanks to an integrated system of five layers specifically designed to absorb shock and never shatter.
- It starts with a rigid aluminum core that provides structural integrity and durability.
- On top of that, we’ve added in a stunning AMOLED flexible display. Using a flexible display absorbs shock and makes it possible to flex during a drop versus breaking like most screens.
- Then, a dual touch layer with redundancy was created to help it survive accidents. Often, after a drop, the touch layer can go bad and your touch doesn’t work as well. So we‘ve added a failsafe mechanism.
- The next layer is the interior lens which provides a clear protective shield that won’t crack or shatter.
- Lastly, we topped it off with an exterior lens that has a unique hardcoat that helps protect the display against normal wear and tear.
All of this amounts to unprecedented durability and protection from those everyday accidents. To learn more about how Moto ShatterShield was made, check out the video below:
Moto ShatterShield will first come to Droid Turbo 2 by Motorola available exclusively in the US through Verizon Wireless. We will bring this technology to other devices and countries around the globe soon, so stay tuned for more news.

Marshmallow and S’more - Updated
Updated on December 8, 2015 to add more devices.
We believe your phone should look and behave like you want it to. That means our approach to software is ‘less is more’, so you can focus on the choices that are right for you. In fact, we’ve made it a priority to avoid bloatware and skins, and focus on identifying and tackling areas where we can enable more meaningful exchanges between you and your phone, such as simple voice controls and notifications that you can interact with even when your phone is asleep.
This philosophy has enabled us to make what we think are the most personal and responsive phones in the world, built on a foundation of pure Android with a few Moto Enhancements to improve (not impede) overall functionality.
The New Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS is Here
We think Android is one of the best phone ingredients out there, and there are some sweet enhancements with Marshmallow that we’re excited about. Here are a few of our favorites:
- Doze Mode -- This new feature monitors your phone and puts it into a deep sleep when it’s not being used, which can extend battery life substantially.
- Now on Tap -- We love Google Now, and it’s improved in Android M. Simply long press the home button to bring up the Google Now feature and display information based on whatever you’re doing at the time.
- Android Pay -- Android M allows you to bring up Android Pay with a simple tap and easily make purchases without having to open a separate app.
- Direct Share -- Share your photos, news, links, etc. with your favorite contacts easily and quickly.
- Simpler volume controls -- A more intuitive way to control ringtone and media volume.
Changes to Moto Enhancements
The release of a new Android version is a great time to take a fresh look at our signature Moto Enhancements to ensure we’re complementing Android (not competing with it). Android 6.0 Marshmallow includes some great new features similar to things we’ve developed in the past. For example, you’ll find an option for ‘Do not disturb’ under the ‘Sound and notification’ settings to make sure you’re not interrupted during meetings or while sleeping. That’s similar to Moto Assist, so we’re removing Moto Assist as part of the upgrade to M.
Android M also enhances support for backing up user data. These improvements duplicate most of what Motorola Migrate provides. Consequently, we’ll retire Motorola Migrate and no longer preload it going forward. We will also retire the Google Chrome extension found in Motorola Connect. Since we created Motorola Connect, several similar services have shown up on Google Play and many consumers have moved from SMS to other over-the-top messaging services. Both of these products were valuable in their time but the world has moved on and they no longer add enough value to justify taking up space in your device. For more information about where to find a few of these common features within Android M or alternative apps other consumers use, check out our support forum.

2015 Motorola Global Smartphone Relationship Survey
Whether we admit it or not, we’re in a serious relationship with our smartphones. That relationship, however, is often one-sided. Motorola surveyed 7,112 adults in seven countries1 to understand the good, bad and awkward relationships that people have with their phones.

Find Your Perfect Moto Match with the All-New Moto G, Moto X Play and Moto X Style
It might not be something we like to admit, but we’re all in serious relationships with our phones.
We trust them with our most personal questions, photos, stories and secrets. They never leave our sides. Most of us have slept with our phone1. And nearly 1 in 5 people would be more willing to give up seeing their significant other, showering or sleeping than having to go without their smartphone for a weekend1. Now that’s devotion.
But let’s face it, most of the time, these relationships are one-sided. Our phones simply aren’t as devoted to us as we are to them. They desert us with a dead battery when we need them the most, embarrass us during important meetings, and pester us while we’re driving, demanding we take our eyes off the road to pay attention to them. And needless to say, most of the time, our phones rarely match our personal style. No wonder less than half of people say they are happy with their phone.
At Motorola, we believe everyone deserves the choice of a better mobile relationship. One that is personal, fulfilling, stands the test of time and fits your budget.
Your phone should know you by the sound of your voice, but also realize when you want to be left alone. It should offer a customized look that perfectly complements your individual style. It should keep you safe with easy-to-access, hands-free control. It should grow with you, learning your preferences and habits, getting better over time. And it certainly should be with you for the long haul: durable, water-repellant, and backed up with lifetime customer service.
Today we are announcing the next generations of our most popular phones — Moto G and Moto X — giving you the mobile relationship you never knew existed. The new phones feature best in class cameras, meaningful software experiences and personalization options - all at exceptional prices.
The new Moto G is ready to weather any storm with you, literally, thanks to IPX7-rated protection and Corning Gorilla Glass, so you’re safe from accidental drops into water2 as well as unsightly scrapes and scratches on your display. With an all-day battery3, it won’t ever bail on you when you need it most and it’s ready to capture new memories with a flick of the wrist with a 13 megapixel camera. Personalize Moto G with Motorola Shells available in a variety of colors. And now, Moto G can complement your personal style even more with customization options on Moto Maker4, our online design studio where you can pick the colors, memory and accents to make your phone as unique as you are. New in 2015, we’re expanding Moto Maker into Brazil, where Moto G was the best-selling device for a year.
The new Moto X family: Finally, phones that love you back.
Announcing two editions to offer you even more choice:
Moto X Play With up to 48-hours of battery life and a water-repellent design, Moto X Play will love you back day and night, rain or shine. Stay connected on your commute, at work, at play and whenever you need it most—and still have enough battery to get you into the next day. Take brilliant photos and stunning videos with its 21 megapixel camera, and show them off on the edge-to-edge 5.5-inch HD display. And living up to its name, get all the power you need for gaming, streaming and multi tasking at the speed of life with a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processor.
Moto X Style Looking for a phone that doesn’t compromise, offers powerful performance, and looks gorgeous all at the same time? Then the bold new Moto X Style is for you. We certainly wouldn’t call it “Style” if it didn’t complement yours, offering more customization options than any other phone on the market. Make yours a true reflection of you by choosing from a variety of vibrant colors or authentic materials including new Saffiano leather and real wood with unique grains. Immerse yourself in entertainment with an expansive 5.7-inch edge-to-edge display that’s enhanced by rich stereo sound. And when your battery needs a boost, the world's fastest charging smartphone5 will get 10 hours of power in just 15 minutes of charging with TurboPower. With all three of these new smartphones, we’ve used some of the most advanced camera technologies available, so Moto X Style now boasts one of the best cameras in the industry. You can take crystal-clear photos and video with the 21-megapixel camera or look your best in selfies or video chats with the 5-megapixel front-facing camera featuring a wide angle lens and selfie flash.
In the US, it will be available as a Pure Edition because you are getting an end-to-end Moto experience that hasn’t been possible until now. With universal banding, you can now use the same phone on any US carrier. Plus, buying directly from Motorola means you get a cleaner version of Android, without clutter and bloatware.
How to buy & pricing that fits
This is our biggest Moto G launch yet with availability in more than 60 countries throughout North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific starting today. Check your local web sites for pricing, but one thing is certain, we’ve made sure that every Moto phone is offered at an amazingly competitive price and delivers premium value.
Moto X Play will be available starting in August in various countries across Europe, Latin America, and Canada (sorry, it won’t be available in the US, but we’ll have more choices for you all later this year). Moto X Style will be available in countries across Europe, Latin America and North America starting in September. We’ll share news for Asia Pacific, including more on China and India, later this year.

Happy Birthday to the Motorola Logo!
The Motorola emsignia, affectionately called “Batwing,” is celebrating a major milestone today - its 60th birthday!
The batwing has had a few makeovers since its debut in 1955 but continues to stand for innovation and quality. The familiar “M” can still be seen on all our devices.
To celebrate this special occasion, we’re running a #MyMotoLogo contest across our social channels in select countries this summer, asking fans and enthusiasts to put their own special twist on the Batwing. Using doodles, photographs, graffiti and more, contest participants can create their own logo and submit it for a chance to win prizes.
Like us on Facebook to stay in the know on contest timing.
More on our beloved Batwing
On June 19, 1955, Motorola introduced, the now famous Batwing logo. Featuring two aspiring triangle peaks arching into an abstracted “M,” the mark was chosen to showcase the “progressive leadership-minded outlook of the electronics company.”
Designed by Morton Goldsholl Design Associates in Chicago, the batwing was first revealed in a Motorola showroom in the Merchandise Mart. Sixty years later, the batwing can be seen once again in the iconic Chicago building where Motorola now has its headquarters.

Jonathan Adler on Design Philosophy, Breaking the Rules, and The Power of Choice
And quite frankly, we may have found our spirit animal in Jonathan Adler, famed NYC-based potter and designer who’s known for his bold, irreverent designs.
As a designer committed to the idea of creating unique styles and trailblazing decor, Jonathan Adler has more in common with Motorola than you’d think. Adler even handed over the design reigns to his customers with his Design Your Own pillows, rugs and throws feature, and we couldn’t help but notice the customization similarities to our own Moto Maker and just how important the ability to put a personal touch on the Moto 360 is to our consumers. We’re thrilled to have Jonathan joining us today to talk a bit about the power of creativity, individuality and of course, choice.
LH: Can you tell us a little about your history? How did you get to where you are today?
Jonathan Adler: I am actually a potter first and foremost. I first tried clay at summer camp when I was 13, and it’s all I wanted to do ever since. I spent my entire time at Brown University taking pottery classes at the Rhode Island School of Design, then moved to New York. I got my first order in 1993 from Barneys and I’ve been on a surreal creative odyssey ever since. I’m a restless designer, and the more I make the more I want to make.
LH: In your own words, what is the true power of design?
JA: We live in an anything-goes world. Life’s too short to look back and see an endless haze of beige, so I exhort people to do what makes them feel even more stylish and glamorous than they already are without worrying about “rules.” Your style should speak to who you are (or at least who you wish you were!).
LH: Tell us a little about your design philosophy at Jonathan Adler.
JA: Absolutely! It’s actually twofold: build a timelessly chic foundation, then accessorize with abandon. I want everything I make to communicate a spirit of Modern American Glamour. That’s why I love all the customization options in Moto Maker. Our phones and watches are our most constant accessories, so it’s about time they reflected our personal styles.
LH: I’m thrilled to hear you say that actually because that's how we feel at Moto! You’ve had a chance to play in the Moto Maker sandbox a bit. What were some of your favorite aspects of it?
JA: I love all of the different color and texture combinations that Moto Maker offers for the Moto X. There’s a classic summer white or a modern wood back; a 70s-inspired matte green or a rich, golden leather. And with the additional options for trim and case customization, your Moto X can truly be yours.
LH: We couldn’t agree more! Speaking of colors and textures, what trends should consumers look out for this summer and fall? Any favorites catching your eye?
JA: Grey is the neutral du jour. And people are embracing wallpaper again (as they should). And when it comes to metals, it’s brass, brass, brass – you’d be mad not to surround yourself with gold tones. But, with so many unique trends happening on the streets and on the runways, now is a great time for all tastes in the design and fashion world.
LH: Thank you so much for your time, Jonathan. Any parting words?
JA: When it comes to style, I invite you to be bold. Be colorful. Be glam. And most importantly, be you.

You love smartphones, but not the contracts
For a limited-time, try Moto X risk free and save*
According to a recent report by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), Motorola customers are some of the most satisfied smartphone owners in the country. In fact, Moto X ranks as one of the top three smartphone brands!
The report also sheds light on the massive shift we are seeing in the wireless and mobile industry. People are happiest without a contract. The good news is that more and more carriers understand the importance of offering simple to understand, no contract wireless plans. To embrace going off-contract, we recognize the need to offer great premium smartphones at a better price so you get more bang for your buck.

To try one out, simply design and order your device at motomaker.com and activate it on a no-contract plan. As always, we want to give you the power to choose a great mobile experience, and when it comes to form and function, Moto has you covered.

The Download: Introducing Chop Twice for Flashlight with Lollipop 5.1 for Moto X (2nd Gen.)
Today we began rolling out Android 5.1, Lollipop for Moto X (2nd Gen.)—and with it, we’re pleased to introduce a new Moto Action: Chop twice for Flashlight.
First some details on the rollout. We began rolling out the update in a soak test to those of you who bought your Moto X (2nd Gen.) at select retail partners in Brazil. We have been working on putting the software through carrier and regional testing in other countries and for other devices, so please stay tuned for more.
Now for the fun stuff. Google’s latest build of Lollipop 5.1 provides stability enhancements and squashes some bugs. At Motorola, we’re also throwing in a new Moto Action we believe is both useful and fun. In addition to twisting twice to launch camera, waving once to silence an incoming call, or passing your hand above the screen for Moto Display, you can now do one more thing.
How many times have you fumbled through your settings or awkwardly opened an app to turn on the flashlight? When you typically need a flashlight, you need one quickly. Chop twice for flash allows you to make a natural chopping motion (that’s right, like when you’re chopping an onion) to turn on the flashlight. Then simply chop twice again to turn it off.
We hope you enjoy the update. Learn more about 5.1 for Moto X (2nd Gen.) here and get other information at our software updates page. Let us know what you think about it on Facebook, Google+, and Twitter.

How Moto X inspired these West Hollywood stylists
Spring is here and with the warm weather are endless ideas for cute looks. We’re a big believer in choosing your own style, which is why we give you the choice to customize your Moto X in a variety of different combinations, including genuine leather and wood backs. So we asked West Hollywood-based fashion experts at The Style List on Sunset Boulevard for their advice on creating a look that works.
They gave three tips:
Tip #1: Make a statement - A statement piece is a great way to define your look. It could be a skirt you love, a bold piece of jewelry—or even your phone!
Tip #2: Customize your style - It doesn’t matter what this season’s trends are—the most important thing is that you’re your own person! Make the style your own by choosing pieces and colors you love.
Tip #3: Be inspired - Look around you for inspiration to bring together your outfit or your style. Your statement piece could be a great place to start.
Want to see happens when you put these tips to work? The Style List uses customized Moto X’s as their statement pieces and put together three adorable outfits based on the phones:

Changing the Rules
Last week the Times of India reported that Flipkart, India’s leading e-commerce site, would abandon its desktop website and go all-mobile. This says something about how they see their market and the users they are cultivating. India is one of the great growth stories for mobile -- a country with 1.25 billion people and just over 200m mobile Internet users.
But that great untapped market is also a conundrum. Many of the people on the fringes of global mobile Internet adoption have radically different expectations and habits than the consumers we’re used to dealing with. In some cases they’re buying bandwidth literally a few kb at a time. No matter how inexpensive good devices get, many of these people don’t have the years of accumulated experience that make modern mobile operating systems decipherable.
This is a great illustration of something I’ve been talking about with my team recently. The mobile device business remains one of the most amazing growth stories of our age. But three forces are profoundly changing the shape of the industry, making this the most interesting and perilous time since it emerged in its modern form in 2007. We have to adapt to this new world to survive. These three forces are new users and markets; China; and new competitors and new models.
